Laamiyah Ibn Taymiyyah

Oh questioner about my doctrine and belief,
Guidance is granted to those who seek it.

Listen to the words of one who speaks with truth in his saying,
He does not waver from it nor does he change.

The love for all the companions is my doctrine,
And through loving the kin of [the prophet], I seek closeness to [Allah]

And all of them have their high ranks and virtues,
But indeed, As-Siddiq is the best among them.

And I say about the Quran what its verses have brought,
For it is eternal and revealed.

And I say, Allah, exalted be His glory, has said,
And the chosen guide (Mohammad) and I do not interpret (differently).

And all the verses about [Allah’s] attributes, I pass them on,
Truly, just as the first generation transmitted.

And I entrust the responsibility of [its interpretation] to its transmitters,
And I protect them from all that can be imagined.

Woe to the one who threw the Quran behind his back,
And when he seeks proof, he says, “Al-Akhtal said!” (Akhtal refers to someone who speaks senseless words)

And the believers shall truly see their Lord,
And he descends to the heaven without [designating] a how.

And I affirm the scales and the fountain from which,
I hope to drink, quenching my thirst.

And likewise, the bridge is stretched over hell,
So one shall be granted safety and saved, while another abandoned.

And the wicked one shall burn in the fire by [divine] wisdom,
And likewise, the righteous will enter the gardens.

And every living and rational person will have in his grave,
Deeds to accompany him there, and he will be questioned.

This is the creed of Ash-Shafi’i and Maalik,
And Abu Hanifah, and then Ahmad transmitted.

So if you follow their path, then you are successful,
And if you innovate, then there is no reliance upon you.
